  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Mix coconut and pecans; sprinkle on bottom of pan. Mix cake as directed on box; pour on top of coconut and pecans.
  • Heat the butter and the cream cheese, on low heat; just until you can stir it. Remove from heat, add the confectioner's sugar, and stir until well blended. Pour cream cheese mixture on top of cake mix.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes. The cream cheese mixture will sink to bottom, forming a creamy layer between the cake and coconut- pecan mixture.


This cake can be turned out on a tray or served directly from the pan. Either way, it is an easily made, but decadent cake for German Chocolate Cake lovers.

    I have been making this cake for years and every where I take it everyone LOVES it. I do not heat the cream cheese, I beat it with the melted butter and along with the sugar. Then spoon it by dollops into the cake. You have to be careful not to allow the cream cheese mixture to touch the sides of the pan or it will cook out of it. DELICIOUS! One other's not a pretty cake but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in taste. I have a friend that request my flop cake because that's exactly what it looks like. :)
