  • Season chops with the salt, garlic, onion, basil and oregano powders. Let this stand at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil and brown chops slightly. Remove from frying pan and place in a casserole in a single layer and add cheese. Place this in the oven at 350F degrees until cheese begins to melt.
  • Add the cream of mushroom soup (undiluted) to cover the chops and place in the oven, now at 325F for another 30 minutes or so. The top of the chops will be golden brown and shiny with the soup. At this point add the mushroom caps and continue cooking another 10 minutes. Delicious!!

Special Equipment Needed


These chops become very tender (almost melt in your mouth) and the taste is fantastic. If you don't like mushrooms, you can change the condensed soup and make it with cream of celery, asparagus or red peppers and change the topping accordingly. I have made it many ways and it is always delicious- no matter which combination I have used. It goes great with a serving of mashed sweet potatoes and a green salad. Good supper for a weeknight because it practically makes itself.
