  • Put whole head of cabbage in water and cook until cabbage is soft enough to peel off full leaves. Take out of water and set aside while preparing meat. Mix venison, pork, beef, egg, milk, onion, garlic, rice & salt together. Make sure it is mixed real well.
  • Spread 1 bag of sauerkraut with 1 Tbsp. caraway seed in bottom of electric roaster--Make oblong meatballs about 3/4 size of a snowball and roll in one cabbage leaf and layer on the sauerkraut until all meat is used up. Then spread the last bag of sauerkraut with 1 Tbsp. caraway seed over the Roly Polys. Cover all ingredients with water.
  • Cook at 350 degrees F for at least 6 1/2 hours and make sure they always have enough water on them.

Special Equipment Needed


If you don't have venison you can used 2 lb. of beef with 1 lb. of pork. Also you can put a whole head of cabbage in freezer ahead of time and use that instead of boiling it the day you make the Roly Polys. You just want the cabbage soft so you can roll the meat up in them.
