  • 1. Cook potatoes and cabbage in lightly salted water
  • 2. Remove cabbage from water when cooked.
  • 3. Remove core from cabbage and discard.
  • 4. Chop cabbage.
  • 5. Melt butter in large skillet and saute the cabbage & onions until onions are translucent.
  • 6. Add salt, pepper, nutmeg, and cream; bring to a boil, and remove from heat.
  • 7. Drain the potatoes and mash.
  • 8. Blend in hot cabbage mixture; place in Larde serving bowl.


When Grand Da would help Grandma in the kitchen, he would use a Ginnises Bottle instead of a masher. This would give us "Smashed Potatoes" with no lumps.
