Greek Beef and Macaroni Cheese

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook macaroni in 1 1/2 quarts boiling water; drain. Saute onion in oil, until golden. Add beef, brown. Mix egg, egg white and milk. Add cooked macaroni to beef; add cheddar cheese and milk mixture.
  • Make sauce by heating oil in small sauce pan, add flour, slowly stir in milk, and cook until smooth and thickened. Remove from heat. Blend in cheddar cheese, salt and pepper, and egg yolk.
  • Sprinkle bread crumbs on bottom of 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Pour meat mixture, and cover with sauce. Bake 30-35 minutes.

Special Equipment Needed


Grandma Shirley's recipe said to sprinkle additional cheese over meat mixture before adding sauce. She didn't specify which type of cheese to use.
