  • Cook ground beef. Strain off the grease and set aside until other ingredients have been prepared.
  • Peel potatoes and slice. Place in a casserole dish. This is all done in layers. Next clean carrots; slice and scatter on top of the potatoes. Open can of corn and spread evenly over the top of the carrots. Chop onion and bell pepper, and then sprinkle over the top of the corn.
  • The hamburger will be half way cooled so you can handle it. Spread it all over the top and push down with your hands. I do this, because usually when I get to the top, I don't leave enough room for the cheese and I like lots of cheese. Next, take the can of tomato sauce and pour it around in a circle starting from the outside to make sure you cover all of the hamburger. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Make sure you season well. Cover with foil. Make sure you seal the foil all the way around.
  • Bake at 400 for 1 hour and 10 minutes. It's done when you can run a steak knife through it easily. Take out of oven and put on the cheese. Start with 6 to 7 slices of Kraft cheese, and then slice the cheddar cheese and place all over the top. It's up to you how much you put on. I like a lot. Put back into the oven and turn on the broiler. Melt the cheese on high just till you start to see little brown spots on the cheese. Take it out and let it cool for at least 15 minutes.

Special Equipment Needed

I like lots of garlic powder and lots of Kraft cheese. The reason I use both cheeses is the slices will melt down into the casserole more than the cheddar. I let it stand for a while, so that when I spoon it out it stays together a little. The casserole dish should be at least 5 inches deep. Enjoy!
