  • Place a little oil in bottom of Dutch oven, heat on medium heat. Add chopped onion until brown.
  • Meanwhile cover stew meat and carrots with garlic salt to your taste. Place meat in oil and brown. Make sure you scrape bottom and not to burn. After meat browned place carrots (broken in half) to pot and brown. After all is brown and you have your base for dark gravy, cover meat and carrots with enough water just to cover it. Let it cook until meat is tender.
  • Place potatoes last hour and tomato soup. Last 10 minutes add can of peas. Make cornstarch and water to make gravy thicken. Serve with French bread and horseradish on side.
