  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Beat into creamed mixture at low speed.
  • Divide into 48 equal pieces. Press a piece of dough into a very thick layer and place cherry in middle. Bring the dough up around the sides and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes and cool 2 minutes.
  • For dipping chocolate: Place chocolate and butter in a cup and microwave. Stir after 1 minute. Repeat until smooth. Dip 1 cookie at a time into the chocolate covering 1/2 of the cookie. Lift cookie out of chocolate and place onto wax paper. Sprinkle with sprinkles, chopped nuts or slivered chocolate before it hardens. Chill in refrigerator to set chocolate.

I make these every year for Christmas and one year I made extra dough but ran out of cherries. I ended up filling the cookies with M&M's and honey roasted pecans. My friend fills them with Junior Mints and uses the white chocolate on top. This is a great recipe to go crazy with and be as creative as you can! HAVE FUN!
