  • Mix all dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt to taste, and vegetable shortening. Mix with hand till there's not so much clumps of vegetable shortening. Slowly add in water a little at a time and mix till it becomes dough. Then heat your flat pan on medium.
  • Next start taking pieces of your dough and ball them up and set aside. Continue till there's no more dough. Rub your rolling pin with flour and start rolling the balls into tortillas.
  • Put them on the pan till they turn light brown on both side. Continue till all balls are finish.

Special Equipment Needed

To keep warm and soft longer, put them in a tortilla warmer or large Ziploc bag. After the first time it will get really easy. You'll be able to eyeball the ingredients. If your dough is still sticky after adding the water, try a little flour till it comes right, you don't need very much water so go easy on it. On making the tortillas round, lol good luck it takes practice hehe so have fun! I like to give a little piece of dough to the little ones; they have fun trying to copy you. It's so cool to eat, they'll love it. Get creative with them. My little one eats it with pica & candy etc.
