  • Place a 12" round Pyrex baking dish or 13 x 9 pan in a 350 degrees F oven with the 1/2 stick butter until butter melts.
  • Once the butter has melted, add the melted butter to the other ingredients and mix together. Pour the mixture into the buttered baking dish.
  • Place on bottom rack of oven. When it starts to turn a little brown, place on top rack until golden brown. Cooking time 35-40 minutes.

Special Equipment Needed


Use the wooden toothpick test to check for doneness. Whole milk can be substituted for buttermilk. Increase whole milk to 16oz and omit water This is the base I use for my cornbread stuffing to the delight of my friends and family. To keep cornbread moist, cover after removing from oven.
