  • Beat egg whites with vanilla until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
  • Spread over HOT filling to edges to seal.
  • Bake in 350 degrees F oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Cool, refrigerate pie until serving time.

Notes

Make meringue topping before pie filling so it can be put on pie right after the hot filling. It bakes quicker and the filling doesn't change in consistency.
