  • Use a mixture of apples - never just one type. Wash, peel and chop the apples. Put about one inch of apple juice and 1/4 cup of water on the bottom of a huge, thick bottomed pot. Put the lid on and the heat on high. When it gets really going, turn it to medium high until the apples are soft through and through. *Do not drain!
  • Use electric mixer and mix until desired consistency. Put applesauce back into pot to keep hot, and season to taste. Add a small amount of brown sugar at a time. It only takes very little to make it perfect! You do not need to add any sugar.
  • Store in a glass container or jar. Refrigerate overnight. Applesauce stays hot for at least 6 hours, but it is yummy even warm! Can store in either fridge or freezer.


Can use a blender...comes out more like baby food (puree). Good with cinnamon, better with brown sugar.
