When I make this cake, I use a lemon cake mix, and add some lemon zest. It is not overpowering at all, but gives a wonderful lemon flavor. The cake is very moist. Also, I mix milk and powdered sugar, with a touch of lemon extract, and drizzle over the top of the cake.
The easiest dessert I have ever made! It literally took me less than five mintues to make. Just mix and pour!! Although, I followed the cake mix box cook time, which is different from the recipe. Also, be sure and beat the lumps out of the dry mix before adding the liquid - a lot easier than trying to beat the lumps out afterwards!
