  • Cut garlic bread into 10 slices (approx 1/2 - 3/4"). Butter one side of bread and lay in bottom of 9 x 13 pan (butter side down). A couple of slices will need to be broken in half to cover bottom of pan.
  • Melt 1 stick of butter over medium heat in large skillet. Slice onions into thin strips, add to skillet and saute covered until tender--about 5 minutes. Stir in the can of cream of mushroom soup, salt & pepper. Pour this mixture over the bread. Top with the sliced or shredded Swiss cheese.
  • Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.


Optional: Saute 12 oz. fresh mushrooms with 2 Tbsp. butter and add to onion mixture.
