  • Cook chicken and tear into small pieces. Put broth in fridge and skim off fat. When cold, use the broth and the seasoning in Kraft Stove Top to make the broth for dressing.
  • Into this, add celery, onion, and water chestnuts, chicken, oysters, and Stove Top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.

Notes

My family loves this for Christmas. I use chicken or turkey Stovetop mix. My family loves oysters and I make some with and another batch without. Stovetop is the best. You do not have to guess at the seasoning.

Although directions were somewhat limited, I was able to interpret my own twist on a basically great recipe. Instead of cooked chicken broth, I used the oyster liquor and liquid from the water chestnuts, as well as enough canned chicken stock for the liquid called for in the Stove Top Stuffing box directions. The stuffing directions called for butter so I melted it in the baking dish first then omitted the small pieces of chicken entirely and stirred in the remaining ingredients as called for in the recipe. Sprinkling celery seed overtop also added a wonderful herbal flavor to the dish. The water chestnuts are a MUST for a needed "crunch" to keep this dish from tasting mushy. This recipe will be part of all my future Thanksgiving feasts!
