  • Cut steak lengthwise into 1/2 inch strips and then into 1 inch pieces. Melt shortening in a skillet and fry steak just long enough for meat to change colors. Remove meat and saute green peppers and onions in the juice from the meat, for about 5 minutes.
  • In a large pot bring the 2 cups of water to a boil. Then add the soup mix and continue to boil for another 10 minutes.
  • Stir in meat, peppers and onions. Let simmer for 30 minutes. Add soy sauce, salt, pepper, and cornstarch (diluted in a little water). Cook until slightly thickened. Serve over cooked rice.


This recipe is also good served over a beef rice.
