  • For dough, combine egg, milk, 1/3 cup water, sugar, 2 tablespoons oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir in as much flour as possible with a wooden spoon. Knead in enough of the remaining flour till a soft dough is formed (4 to 6 min.). Let rest for 10 min.
  • For filling, cook onion and bacon in a saucepan till onion is tender. Stir in potatoes, cheese, 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Divide dough in half. Roll each half to a 12x12 inch square and cut into sixteen 3 inch squares. Place about 1 tablespoon filling on each square. Brush edges of dough with a little water and fold dough over the filling, sealing to form triangles. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
  • Bring 2 quarts of water to boiling in a large sauce pan and add 3 to 4 dumplings at a time. Cook 2 to 3 min. or till tender. Brush with 2 tablespoons oil or melted margarine or butter.
  • Place cooked dumplings on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a 450 oven for 12 to 15 min. If desired, serve with sour cream and chives, chili sauce, fried onions or salsa.
