  • Cut all crust ingredients (except milk) together with pastry blender until they form pea sizes. Gradually add milk, and then divide dough in half. Roll out pastry between 2 sheets of plastic. Place 1 sheet of pastry in bottom of 9" pie plate.
  • Mix all filling ingredients (except butter) together. Fill pie crust with filling mixture and top with 1 Tbsp. butter. Cut lattice design in remaining crust and place over apples, sealing and fluting edges. Glaze crust with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  • Bake 15 minutes at 450°F then 45 minutes at 350°F.

TURNOVER VARIATION Cut rolled pastry into circles. Cut 2-3 chewy caramels into small pieces and add to apple mixture. Place some of the filling on half of each circle. Fold over other half of pastry and press to seal dough. Prick top with fork and glaze and sugar.
