  • In a skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat for three minutes, chopping into small pieces. Add the mushrooms, onions and optional peppers. Cook and stir five minutes longer or until sausage is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender; drain well and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in eggs and half-and-half. Stir in cheese, salt, pepper & nutmeg and the sausage mixture.
  • Pour into baked pastry shell and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
