  • In a large pan heat oil and add onion; saute them for a couple of minutes until turn golden brown. Add ginger, garlic paste, and a little water. Then add salt, red chili powder turmeric powder, and roast it for 1 minute.
  • Add tomatoes and green chili and keep sauteing on high heat until oil comes up. Add yogurt and stir fast, then add chicken at this point and saute for 15 minutes and then add nutmeg powder. Add 1 glass of water, cover it, and let it cook on medium heat until meat is tender and there should be a little thick gravy left. Boil the rice separately in large amount of water and drain when grains are not completely soft.
  • Add layer of rice then the meat and gravy. Add lime juice over it and again a layer of rice. Sprinkle a little food color and let it cook completely covered on very low heat for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the rice should be completely cooked. Mix gently right before serving.
