  • Soak basmati rice in water, clean & drain the water then put it aside. In electric rice cooker, pour 1 1/2 cups of water & allow it to boil. Don’t add too much of water otherwise it would become paste.
  • Meanwhile, put oil in a pan & keep it in microwave for 30 sec. Then add cloves, brinji leaf, onion, and green chilies. Mix well & again put it in microwave for 30 sec.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, spinach (palak) & peas. Mix well & keep it in microwave for 1 min. Then add the rice to the mixture & mix well. Put this mixture in the boiling water. You can add garam masal if required. Add required salt. If needed, you can add some ghee. Close the lid & leave it to cook for 15-20 min. Remove and discard brinji leaf. Garnish with tomato.


You can do with other spinach like palak or something which looks like palak (with larger leaves) Cloves & brinji leaves are maslas (you can put whichever you have) instead of this you can also add garam masala. You can do without adding peas also. You can add grated carrot and cabbage cut into pieces. Do not put ginger garlic paste more than ¼ tsp. It's done in electric cooker & microwave, it can also be done in stove. Rice - water ratio is 1:1.5 (measurement should not be like regular rice as 1:2)
