  • 1. Time saver: Put water on to boil for the stuffing. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Pour vegetable oil and butter or margarine in the bottom of a baking dish.
  • 3. Prepare stuffing according to the directions on the box. While your water is on to begin boiling, cap the top and bottom of the onion and peel.
  • 4. Slice the onion in half so that you have 2 separate pieces.
  • 5. Carefully hull out the inside of the onion by pushing the center away from the outer shell. If you are using a larger onion, you may be able to use several pieces of the inner shell for this recipe and less than 5 onions according to this recipe.
  • 6. Once stuffing is prepared, fill the onion pieces with stuffing, so that the onion is acting like bowl for the stuffing.
  • 7. Place in a baking dish and top with mozzarella cheese.
  • 8. Salt and Pepper are optional to taste.
  • 9. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the onion is softened and cheese is melted.
