  • Group #1 - Add all ingredients into a bowl and stir until all blended.
  • Group #2 - Bring all ingredients to a boil.
  • Group #3 - In small bowl beat all ingredients.
  • Add group #2 to group #1, then add group #3. Mix all well. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan (12X15) and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes only...DO NOT OVER BAKE.
  • Begin making icing after cake has been baking for about 15 minutes. Bring oleo, cocoa, and milk to a boil. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir for a few minutes until all is blended and comes to a consistency of spreadable frosting. Spread immediately on cake while hot - can sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Notes

This is a very moist cake and is nice to take to a tureene dinner or church function. I always go home with an empty dish! This was one of my mother's favorite cake recipes and the recipe I use is in her handwriting.

My Grandmother used to make this all the time when I was a kid! This recipe nails it! My husband and kids loved it! Thanks!
