  • Rinse 5 (1-cup) plastic containers and lids with boiling water. Dry thoroughly. Remove and discard strawberry stems. Crush strawberries thoroughly, 1 cup at a time. Measure exactly 2 cups prepared fruit into large bowl. Stir in sugar. Let stand 10 min., stirring occasionally.
  • Mix water and pectin in small saucepan. Bring to boil on high heat, stirring constantly. Continue boiling and stirring 1 min. Add to fruit mixture; stir 3 min. or until most the sugar is dissolved. (A few sugar crystals may remain.)
  • Fill containers immediately to within 1/2 inch of tops. Wipe off top edges of containers; immediately cover with lids. Let stand at room temperature 24 hours. Jam is now ready to use. Store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks or in freezer up to 1 year. (If frozen, thaw in refrigerator before using.)

CERTO Strawberry Freezer Jam

Omit water and boiling step. Mix 1 pouch CERTO Fruit Pectin and 2 Tbsp. lemon juice in bowl. Stir into fruit mixture in large bowl. Continue as directed. Makes about 4 (1-cup) containers.

How to Measure Sugar Precisely

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My mom always made us freezer jam with the Sure-Jell recipe. My mom always made us freezer jam with the Sure-Jell recipe. I am now 20 years old and at college and I think about this jam all the time when I'm up there! There is no jam that can beat it. My brother and I were raised on homemade freezer jam and we just won't eat store-bought jam anymore! Definitely try this recipe. It's easy and the jam is delicious...and there's nothing like seeing jar after jar of bright red preserves lined on the kitchen counter while they 'set'. ^_^

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My grandchildren love the strawberry freezer jam! My grandchildren love the strawberry freezer jam! I'm very careful to measure everything but have found if strawberries are really ripe, the jam is runny. There must be some way to fix this. From your test kitchen, what do you suggest? I really need to know so that when I open a jar that is "runny" I could do something to keep the jam from dripping off toast or p & j sandwich!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I thought this recipe was my grandma's. I thought this recipe was my grandma's. After she passed I asked my Mom for the recipe and she told me it was on the Sure Jell box. This jam taste like eating fresh picked strawberries. You will never want anything else. One suggestion for the runny or separtation issues. Stir pectin/strawberries for an extra couple of minutes. I wonder if Sure Jell paid grandma for her recipe:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My family loves this jam and will eat no other Strawberry Jam. My family loves this jam and will eat no other Strawberry Jam. Since I have been making this jam for over 30 years this review should tell all that the jam is delicious, easy and loved by not only my six adult children but also by my 8 grandchildren and many friends and family who have received the jam as a gift. Try blueberry and peach jams; just as delicious! Merm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We make this recipe every year using Michigan strawberries. We make this recipe every year using Michigan strawberries. We make enough for the whole year because now that we've had homemade freezer jam, NOTHING comes close in taste! Plus, it is so easy to do. It creates great memories as we husk the berries together and spend the few minutes it takes to make jam to carry us through the whole year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I've been ****** the freezer strawberry jam for years. I've been ****** the freezer strawberry jam for years. According to the directions (which are not the same) the jam did not set. I called the 800 number & was told to hold. I did for some time - no operator. This was a waste of time & money - and even worse we miss our favorite jam. Please advise a solution.
