After draining the pears, I put 1/2 t. cinnamon in the liquid and zapped it 2 minutes in the microwave to thicken. As it cooled, I assembled the cups, then drizzled a tiny bit of the pear liquid on top of each, followed by plain Cool-Whip on top. Everyone loved it and it really didn't take much more time than the original.

I'm always looking for quick, simple desserts that can be modified to be sugar-free since my boyfriend is diabetic. I used sugar-free cool whip, sugar-free butter cookies and pears in pear juice. It was wonderful! My daughter's friend even asked me to give the recipe to her mother.

We frequently have pears with spaghetti or lasagna, so a few nights ago we tried this dish instead of just regular pears. It took maybe 5 minutes to make and was EXCELLENT. Very inexpensive, very easy to make, and not too bad for you either (hey, you're eating fruit, right?). :)

I combined the cool whip and cinnamon with a vanilla bean. I smoothed that over the pears and sprinkled crumbled nilla wafers on top and chilled it for 30 minutes before serving. YUMMY!!!

My husband on the other hand did not enjoy it so much. He complained that the canned pears were not sweet enough. So the next time that I make I will just add a little bit of sugar to his portion.
