What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) white cake mix

pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

2/3

cup powdered sugar

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

1-1/2

cups sliced fresh strawberries

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

GREASE and flour 2 (8- or 9-inch) round pans. Prepare cake batter as directed on package; pour half into medium bowl. Add dry gelatin mix; stir until well blended. Spoon half the white batter and half the pink batter, side by side, into each prepared pan; swirl gently with spoon.

BAKE 30 min. Cool 30 min. in pans. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

MIX sour cream and sugar in medium bowl until well blended. Gently stir in COOL WHIP. Place 1 cake layer on plate; spread top with 1 cup of the COOL WHIP mixture. Cover with 1 cup berries and remaining cake layer. Frost with remaining COOL WHIP mixture; top with remaining berries.

How to Prevent Air Bubbles

To release any air bubbles from the cake batter, lightly tap filled cake pans on counter before baking. Any small air bubbles will rise to the surface.

How to Swirl Batter

For best results, use a teaspoon to swirl the two colors of batter together. Be careful to not swirl the batters too much or the cakes will be a solid pink color instead.

Yummy cake! I plan on making it for a picnic in August. I added a little sour cream to the batter and I also added about 1/2 envelope of unflavored gelatin to the icing so that it would not get to thin. I have done this with other cakes that called for cool whip and it works well.

First time I made this recipe I made it for desert for Easter and it was a hit, everyone love it and wanted it at every family gathering. A great and refreshing summer desert. I highly rate this 5 stars.

I made this cake for my 5 yr old granddaughter's birthday party. It was very pretty. I decorated with the strawberries as they are in the recipe and added princess figures in the middle and sparkly plastic signs that read Happy Birthday. She loved it and so did everyone else.It was yummy too.

This cake is so YUMMY! And easy to make! I made it for a co-worker's birthday and everyone loved it! I highly recommend this recipe, especially the frosting! YUM YUM! You won't be disappointed!

I made this for mother's day and they gobbled it up. I made this for our end of the school year teacher pot luck and it was gobbled up. Total hit all the way around.

I was a tad let down on this cake. Everyone seemed to enjoy it for Mothers Day but me. I guess I'm not a big white cake fan? The frosting on the otherhand was amazing.

The recipe is awesome. The first time I baked this cake was for a family gathering and it was gone within five mintues. I baked it again for some employees from worked and they raved about it. I will be making this cake often.

this strawberry swirl cake is sooooo gooooood. can't stop eating it. easy to make, i'll have to double the recipe for the frosting, to me it wasn't enough. I will make this cake again and again. Do you have any more cake recipes that is easy to make and taste great? I rate it a ten

This cake was definitely a hit with my family for Easter. I did make some adjustments. Since so many people had issues with the strawberry batter sticking, I spooned in the white batter first and let it settle in the pan before spooning and swirling the strawberry batter. I still ended up with a perfectly swirled cake and had no problems with sticking. I also added about 1/4c. sour cream to the batter - it turned out incredibly moist. I would absolutely recommend this recipe - it's a delicious summer/spring cake!
