I was very disappointed with this recipe. The 'goo' was rubbery pudding, not like hot fudge. I guess my expectation was incorrect. Instead of this, just make a chocolate cake, a batch of pudding, and dollop the pudding on a slice of cake. You'll be ahead of the game.
I followed recipe exactly. It was okay. I was expecting it to be more like a lava cake. The flavor was not rich and there was too much pudding goo. We'll eat it but I won't be making it again.
I made this with a yellow cake mix and banana pudding instead of chocolate. It was good but like other reveiwers I had cake on the outside and a runny middle. It had a good flavor and was better cold out if the fridge than warm out of the oven.
My Grandmother used to make this for me as a child. It is such a "comfort food" to me! Whenever I want chocolate... this is the recipe I turn to. I actually inherited the pan my Grandmother used to bake this uncommonly delicious treat in!

I have made a pudding cake from scratch before and we loved it, but I thought this would be quicker with the same end results, not so. I had to bake the cake about 10 minutes or so longer than stated in the recipe. My husband eats anything especially sweets and he does not like it nor do I. Looks like I wasted a cake mix and pudding mixes. First time I have been disappointed in a Kraft recipe!
I have made it as directed but prefer it made with a Spice cake mix using butter scotch pudding. This is a snap to put together and for those that have chocolate allergies, it is very accomodating.
This is such an easy cake to make from scratch. Only takes 5 minutes to mix it up. Search for pudding cake. You just mix it in the pan and pour hot water over and it makes its own pudding. Delish!
Yes, this is easy, and yes, it's good...but you can whip this up from scratch in nothing flat, and it's better - really better!!
It is wonderful and very very easy. I made it for my family and then I made it for an employee luncheon.
