Life is a bowl of cherries…or better yet, it's a moist coffee cake with drizzled frosting and almonds that yields to sweet cherry filling.

My friend and children liked this, but I didn't like it enough to make it again. The texture seemed mushy to me with the pie filling.
I made this today but since I have an apple pie filling, I decided to use a spice cake mix instead of a white cake mix then followed the recipe. I gave it as a Christmas treat to the teachers and staff at my kids' school. I'm so happy since a couple of teachers raved about how delicious it was. I'm so happy! I'll definitely make this again and will try a lemon cake mix with blueberry pie filling and a devil's food cake mix with cherry pie filling.
Made it for a church meeting using devil's food cake mix. Everyone rave about it. I will do this with different cake mixes and fruit combination. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe.
I made this for my Bunco group tomorrow and it looks beautiful!!! I just hope it tastes as good as it looks. I added almond extract to the cake batter and to the icing. The batter was really thick, but the cake baked up just fine.
Always a favorite wherever I take it. Cherry and peach seem to have more flavor. Blueberry and apple just seem too sweet. I've given out this recipe at least a dozen times!
Easy and Yummy!
This cake was a BIG HIT in our family! It is so easy to make. I took the advice of the other reviews and added almond extract to the batter.I omitted the sour cream and replaced it with vanilla Greek yogurt. The cake was moist and delicious!I can't wait to try some other pie filling flavors. This coffee cake will be a regular dessert in our house!!!!
This is a very simple recipe to put together and I think you could use other flavors of pie filling, whch makes it even more versatile. I did add 1/4 tsp of almond extract to the cake batter, and a couple drops of Almond into the frosting. I think it would have been too plain without and would definitely continue doing that in the future. It was super yummy, especially when fresh and warm!
love this cake
Very delicious and very simple to make. Great when you have out of town visitors stay the night. The smell of it baking usually gets them up.
