Beef franks are very good, but don't go as well with bacon. Use regular (or fat free) wieners, wrap thin bacon AROUND them (securing with toothpicks if needed), and fry them in the pan. (Haven't tried grilling bacon-wrapped wieners, but that might work.) Substitute cheddar or pepper jack cheese, then add diced onions and either mustard, chili without beans. or bbq sauce (like a hot dog version of a rodeo burger). If you prefer something more spicy, try spooning some Rotel diced tomatoes on the hot dogs instead. Very different from this recipe, but much tastier. The only relish I would consider for this application would be hot dog relish.
