Summer holidays: Good for picnics, not so great for baking. Avoid heating up the kitchen by combining Jell-O Gelatin, cake and berries for a truly patriotic treat.

I made this recipe for a family reunion which happened to fall on Flag Day. My relatives loved this cake. A couple of people even asked me for the recipe. My relatives ate the whole cake. There were no leftovers to take home. A made a low-cal version of this recipe. I used sugar free Strawberry Jello and Cool Whip Lite.

I used a white cake recipe and divided to make 2 thin 13X9 layers. putting one layer on the bottom put the jello mixture on top then did the fridge time - then topped with the other thin layer of cake and topped with cream cheese frosing and then the flag. It makes a heavier cake but holds up better at an outside setting.

I used a white cake mix (reduced sugar cake, sugar free jello and sugar free cool whip) and did it like the "poke" cake recipe with the fruit added. It was fabulous. Really loved it.

This was refreshing and very pretty. I did it a little differently because I realized(late) that I had two different colors of Jell-O. So I seperated them. Blueberries with the blue. Strawberries with the red, and the pound cake in between the two. It made a pretty red, white, and blue layer. Thanks!

The second time instead of using pound cake pre made I made one from mix . The only thing is next time I should only use half the batter for a 13 X 9 pan. ( can make two then ) It turned out great. Didn't take any home from the cook out !

Made this for the 4th of July and everyone liked it. Wasn't the best cake I'd ever had, but it was good.
