What You Need

lb. breakfast pork sausage

1-1/2

cups hot water

pkg. (6 oz. each) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Turkey

BUTTERBALL® Frozen Whole Turkey (10 lb.), thawed

Make It

HEAT oven to 325°F.

BROWN sausage in skillet; drain, reserving 1/2 cup drippings. Add drippings to large bowl; stir in hot water. Add stuffing mixes and sausage; stir just until stuffing mixes are moistened.

STUFF neck and body cavities lightly with stuffing. Truss turkey; place, breast-side up, on rack in large roasting pan sprayed with cooking spray. Spoon any remaining stuffing into separate baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; cover. Refrigerate stuffing until ready to bake.

BAKE turkey 3 to 3-1/4 hours or until internal temperature of thigh is 180°F and breast and center of stuffing are 165°F, adding dish with remaining stuffing to oven for the last 30 min.

I have been using this stuffing recipe for years. I subsitute lower sodium chicken broth for the water and saute some onions and celery and add this to the dressing. It seems to give a a more"homemade" touch. I am always asked for the recipe.

The sausage suffing was such a hit that my husband was upset to see that it was almost gone after the meal!

The sausage stuffing was a HUGE hit! I did not stuff the turkey with it; instead I put celery, onions and garlic inside the turkey and drizzeled some of the drippings into the stuffing (just a little bit) before I served it. I will definitely make this again!

I added some chopped celery and minced garlic to the recipe, as well as chicken broth, to get the stuffing to the consistency we like it. Very simple way to make stuffing.

THIS TURKEY AND STUFFING RECIPE IS VERY COLORFUL,SMELLS GREAT IN THE OVEN. I AM PREPARING 2 --10LB EACH TURKEYS. I'M DECORATING EACH PLATTER WITH GARNISH,SLICED LEMONS,SLICED SEASONED APPLE SLICES. (HAPPY THANKSGIVING)

I have made this stuffing with chicken and other meals, like stuff pork chops, instead of turkey for years. My family loves it. I have also added ground chicken to the recipe. (Sorry folks, but my daughter in allergic to turkey.) It is really delicious.

This is a delicous stuffing reciepe!! I don't use the drippings from sausage but that's just me! I don't like any thing greasy. Add a little chicken stock-1/4 cup to the Stove Top stuffing. This isn't the healthiest dish but IT'S THANKSGIVING! ENJOY A LITTLE :) Overall, it's a great dish and this will be on my Thanksgiving dinner menu this year...
