I made these for my sons 10th birthday party and the kids loved them. It was quick, easy and fun to make.
The caramel apples were beautiful when finished, tasted wonderful. I did have a problem with drying them even after I refrigerated them. They remained sticky and very difficult to wrap. Also, I did have a problem with the caramel "sliding" off the apple. Please note that I followed the directions as stated on the bag. Any suggestions to above difficulties? I would appreciate it!
So easy and a lot cheaper than buying them premade at the store.
I made this recipe along with the "Great Pumpkin Cake" for our church fall festival. The caramel apples turned out wonderfully and were so easy to prepare. Everyone loved them. I rolled some in chopped mixed nuts and some in mini chocolate chips. These will now become my yearly tradition.
I found that if you microwave the caramels for 4 minutes and use either milk or half/half instead of water it comes out creamier and also will not burn.
I've always loved carmel apples. These are great!!!
It is just what I am looking for . thank you
A tip I learned from a candy store is to sprinkle powered sugar on waxed paper before dipping the apples in the caramel. They are easier to lift then.
I make these every Fall. I recommend using a spoon to get the caramel on top of the apple also. Then letting some drip off before scraping the bottom so it doesn't stick so much to the wax paper. If you cool them in the fridge overnight, you can wrap them individually in wax paper that removes pretty good if you store them in the fridge till you are ready to eat. If you love chocolate try it melted on top, my husband loves it!
My children and I made this recipe today for fun. We had a good time! Very quick and easy to prepare. Absolutley loved it!!
