I thought this recipe was very good. I made it for a pool party and all the kids loved it. I also made it again for my job. The second time I made this cake I used moist cake (only because I could not find regular cake) and like someone else said it did start to break apart in the edges, so I used some regular white frosting as glue and I filled in the egdes that were coming apart and quickly put the cake in the refrigerater. Then I let the jello harden a bit longer that way it would not break up or seep through the cake and it came out great. I personally like the moist cake better but you have to be carefull and let the cake cool before cutting the hole (pool) part of it. I might be making the cake again for a third time, it was yummy.
I made this for my nephew's birthday and everyone oohed and aaaahd. One word of advice, don't dig too deep and gut out the center, try to leave a substantial amount of cake on the bottom (maybe an inch?). I left about 1/3" and the jello oozed out the bottom and the side cracked from the lack of support.
My nephew loved this cake. I made it for his birthday and the first thing he said to me was, are they dead? Referring to the teddy grahams lol. He is so cute. Try explaining to a 3 year old that it's not real water and the teddy bears are cookies, ya that went over well. But he loved the cake, the taste was meh. A little too sweet for me, but then again it's for children and they could live on an IV of that stuff.
I made this cake for my son's 5th birthday party. It was a pool party and everyone just loved it.
My 12 year old grandaughter did most of the work. Everyone just loved it. She made it for Mothers Day. It was very special. The children and adults had fun with this cake. Thank you once again.
I made this cake for my little sister's birthday party and all of her little girlfriends loved it. They asked me about how I made it look like a pool and what were the innertubes made of. It was so cute and they loved the jell-o part! I used those vanilla wafers as a pool deck and it worked great!
It is a great cake for the kids. My kids adored this cake. They tried to make the bears "dive-in" to the pool.
My son turned 9 years old, so I was racking my brain trying to think of a "cool" cake for him! Well...all his "cool" buddies thought this cake was just awesome! I would definitely try this cake again...! Wasn't that difficult to make either!! This one's a keeper!!
This is perfect for my daughters 1st birthday party!!! She is having a pool party and I didn't want to have a cliche cake with Dora or Spongebob, not that I don't like them, I just think that this is the to cute to pass up!
