Old-Fashioned Macaroni and Cheese

Old-Fashioned Macaroni and Cheese recipe
When your kids are telling their kids how good Mom's mac and cheese was, this is why. So saucy and cheesy, the memory lasts decades.

This is an excellent Mac and cheese recipe. I will make it again and agin
My kids, who normally hate homemade mac and cheese, loved this! Will be making this again!
Thanks to this recipe I will never buy boxed mac and cheese, ever again! This mac and cheese recipe is amazing! My family loved it, I wouldn't change anything about it.
this is the best mac and cheese recipe i have tried, , i used the extra sharp cheese and added a pizza cheese to make up the difference and my family love it i surely will make it many more times
Use sharp cheese for sure; it makes for a very tasty sauce. I also add a little celery salt. For those of you who like a stronger flavour add a little more cheese than the recipe calls for or in our house we add a little hot sauce individually. Sometimes I will prepare the macaroni ahead of time and then store it in a container and then rinse and drain it prior to use. I will also prepare the sauce earlier in the day and then mix the two just before going in the oven. You may have to adjust the cooking time if you have refridgerated the sauce though.
Very good! A keeper for sure!
Not my favorite Mac and cheese recipe. Did not have any flavor. I would try a different recipe.
This is just like the mac n cheese my Mom used to make, except she used Velveeta. Sometimes she would add leftover ham or veggies. Love it!
I made the mac & cheese exactly as directed. The cheese sauce tasted great before I put it in the oven. After cooking for 20 min in the oven, almost all of the cheese sauce was gone! What happened??
I added 1 tsp. of ground mustard and 1 sauteed onion that's chopped finely to this recipe. I always double these recipes and make a large casserole of it. After serving for dinner, we love having it for lunch the following day too. Think it's even better b/c the flavors have had more time to marinate together. So many ways to add more flavor to this dish as well, with hot pepper, broccoli florets, chopped red and green bell peppers, etc. Let your creative juices flow!
