Taco Bake

We had a hunch about these two. And sure enough, fireworks. Ooey-gooey mac and cheese pairs up with the Tex-Mex flavors of tacos for a match made in heaven.

What You Need

pkg. (14 oz.) KRAFT Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese Dinner

lb. ground beef

pkg. (1-1/4 oz.) TACO BELL® Taco Seasoning Mix

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

1-1/2

cups KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided

cup TACO BELL® Thick & Chunky Salsa

Make It

HEAT oven to 400°F.

PREPARE Dinner as directed on package. While Macaroni is cooking, cook meat with taco seasoning as directed on package.

STIR sour cream into prepared Dinner; spoon half the Dinner mixture into 8-inch square baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Top with layers of meat mixture, 1 cup shredded cheese and remaining Dinner mixture; cover.

BAKE 15 min.; top with salsa and remaining shredded cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5 min. or until cheese is melted.

Unfortunatley my pickiest eater did not like this. My husband and son thought it was ok, so we will not be making it again. I thought it was good comfort food for less picky eaters.

This recipe is so easy and very good! I have made this several times and my family loves it. I usually use less sour cream and use my own homemade salsa if I have some and that makes it even better!

Add one can rinsed and drained black beans and one can diced tomatoes in garlic and oregano to make this a healthier alternative. Top with sour cream and cilantro. Very, very good one dish meal!

My family and I really enjoyed this...especially me. It was so easy to make and I had all the ingredients on hand. For next time I would add more cheese and throw in some chopped green onions or black olives.

I have made this recipe for years. Came up with the idea with leftover taco fixings. My kids loved it, and still do.
