very tasty and easy to make. i made a substitution for the marascino cherries i used cherry pie filling instead, gave it a great kick.frosting is wonderful.will make again:)
This is the BEST cake I've EVER made. I am fond of chocolate and cherries together but I never dreamed the combo could be so GOOD!!! I was also surprised to see a chemical reaction between the sour cream/powdered sugar mixture and the Cool Whip. I didn't understand how the loose Cool Whip would hold up as frosting, but upon mixing the sour cream/powdered sugar with the Cool Whip, it set up immediately, making the best frosting. The warm cherry Jello was a bonus too, poured into the chocolate cake. Yum!!! The BEST EVER!!!

Made this cake for Thanksgiving as a sheet cake. It was well recieved. In my opinion it was better the next day. The frosting is very good.

i made this for thanksgiving and everyone loved it. i put more cherries in the middle and just drizzled the chocolate with a spoon. the only problem with the cake is that it is so moist it will fall apart if you're not careful.
I have made this recipe for three years straight (per special request) at holidays. It is easy and so very yummy. I did change from the piped chocolate to shaved to make it easier to cleanly cut.
I made this cake for a Relay for Life bake off at my place of employement in May of 2007. It not only won 1st place in the cake category, it also won Best of Show! And... it raised more dollars as the cake was sold piece by piece at the bake sale held later. It was then highlighted in the local paper. Good cake!
This is so easy to make, definitely a must try. I substitute the maraschino cheeries with cherry pie filling. Everyone loves it!
