This recipe is always a big hit at any Church, Family or Girfriend dinner. It is quick, easy and I always bring home a empty bowl. The layering is what makes it appealing to the eye. I frequently see people going back for seconds.

Layering food would probably looks best for dessert, not for a salad. I'm sorry but I don't like the way it looks and peas is not my family or friends favorite.

I make this salad all the time and we love it. It looks very nice, too. For the topping I always use Kraft ranch dressing, very good and even easier and quicker to make.

I love this salad. I often substitute brown sugar and add chopped green onions, bacon bits, summer squash........I get lots of requests to bring this salad to pot lucks and family gatherings. As far as being messy - I toss everything just before serving & it dissappears so quickly that no one has time to fret about what it looks like! It's wonderful!!

I've made so many variations of this and its always great! Try it with broccoli & cauliflower. Mix the lettuce with romaine. Try it with left over bar-b-que chicken instead of the bacon or ham and on and on. Its one I can make & take...Love it

I used fat free mayo to keep the calories down and it was still wonderful. Even my son liked it, we also added black olives and banana peppers.

This is a great version of the classic 7 layer salad, but I do like the 2 items that are missing, black olives and green or red peppers. They not only add a bit of texture and color, but there flavor is a real compliment to the rest of the ingredents.

I have been making this salad for years and if my refrigerator space is limited I mix the mayo, sugar and parmesan the night before and put the salad together just before guests arrive. It is great if you can make it ahead though.....there're always some other last items that pop up. I put chopped broccoli or cauliflower(or both) between the lettuce and red onions, have used different kinds of lettuce and I don't use the cheese and tomatoes either. However, I think I'll try it that way next time.
