OREO & Fudge Ice Cream Cake

This player is created by Blackwell Team for testing.

Looks hard, but it's not. The secret? Ice cream sandwiches do most of the work. Delicious layers of OREO Cookies and fudge help too.

I've made this a couple times and it is super easy. I always have to make more than one because it is popular. Don't count on 12 slices though because they would be so thin and hard to serve. 9 or 10 is a better number of servings.

I unwrapped the ice cream sandwiches and kept them in the freezer until I needed them and worked as fast as possible to keep the ice cream from melting. The layers are beautiful when cut and the flavor is wonderful! Not as rich or heavy as I expected and that's a plus for me. Super recipe that I will be using again, probably very soon!

Made this for our first summer BBQ of 2012. It disappeared very quick. Will make it again! Would recommend making it the night before to allow for it to completely set up. Added vanilla and some cold coffee to the Cool Whip icing. This dessert will not disappoint.

Gorgeous, delicious, and simple. I made it for my daughter's baby shower, and used 18 sandwiches instead of 12. So it was 3 rows of 6 instead of 3 rows of 4. Buy the larger tub of Cool Whip so you have enough to frost. Then I decorated it with blue sprinkles and wrote on it with blue frosting. Delicious!

We love this recipe. I always make it for any get together, summer or winter :)

So very easy to make, but everyone thinks it's some fancy dessert! Not the cheapest dessert to make - cost me about $11 when I bought everything - but still cheaper than buying an ice cream cake. Have made it about 5 times and will continue to make it!

Delicious and super easy. I added 1tsp of vanilla to the cool whip before icing the cake, which was a nice little addition.

I have made this cake numerous times and it ALWAYS gets amazing reviews! (The only change I make is using more Cool Whip on the outside of the cake.) SO YUMMY!!

Wow - so easy and so good. I made this for my son's birthday and have had several requests for the recipe and several requests to make it for other parties. I made a double batch for a party for 13 people and only had two servings left. Tip: Unwrap all the ice cream sandwiches at the beginning and place back in the freezer until needed - they do melt fast.

My children are 13, 14 & 14 and this is the only birthday cake they want each year for the past five years! They love it and so do all their friends! The whip cream can also be colored with food coloring or sprayed with color to make it more festive and then decorated as you would any other cake. One year we made it look like an ipod - very cool!
