Awesome, awesome, pie! Tasted like ooey gooey carmel apple pie if you ask me. I did use all brown sugar for the topping and the filling itself for a little bit of a richer flavor. Its great served a la mode!
I have had this recipe in my recipe box for ages now and I finally got to make it. I did listen to other cooks about the cinnamon so I tripled the amount and I still couldn't taste it. I also doubled the amount of topping but I thought it was too much. It turned out to be very sweet. I did add an extra pear though, overall my family liked it especially my 5 yr old who had seconds. We'll finish the pie tonight after dinner....they're looking forward to it.
AMAZING!!! My husband said it was the perfect dessert...the perfect blend of crunchy, crispy, sweet, and gooey! And it was really easy too! Definitely going to be making this ALOT! :) I did double the crumble recipe, and I used three Granny Smith apples with two pears. I also added more cinnamon. SO yummy!
This is a great recipe and I've made this alot! Everyone in my family and even my boyfriend had ask for this recipe.
It was pretty easy to make and tasted wonderful!
Wow! Great recipe. Easy to make and so delicious. I did what others have recommended and used 3-4x the amount of cinnamon, and doubled the amount of crumb mix. I used 3 granny smiths and 2 anjou pears. Will make it again this week.
I made this for Easter and everyone loved it. I had to make more of the crumble mixture though because I didn't have enough leftover when it was time for the top crumb layer. I also took other posters advice and increased the amount of cinnamon. It was yummy!
This is my most requested pie! easy, delicious, & just plain PERFECT!!
I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit and it was easy to make which is always a plus.
