Wonderful - and SOOO easy, quick and tasty. Without the green onions or fresh bacon bits, it is bland, but those additions alone spice it up for me! The secret is the frozen hashbrowns and canned potato soup - do not have to wait for the potatoes to "cook"! I've made this 3 or 4 times now this winter season, for everyone from my husband to my in-laws to the first course at a dinner party!
Have not yet made this, but wondering if it can be put in a slow cooker/crockpot? Mainly to give the potatoes longer to cook. I don't like hard potatoes. Anyone?
I made this a few years ago and have continued to make it but only after a few additions. I add celery salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Some pepper also helps. Otherwise it is very bland.
My family absolutely loves this recipe. I usually have to make a double batch!
My fiance said he "loves this"! I made it for the first time last night and served in bread bowls. I made revisions to the recipe based on other reviews.
Super easy to make and modify. Family loved it! Added a little onion. Could easily add veggies too.
I absolutely love this recipe... I did however modify it slightly. I added frozen broccoli, and doubled the cheese. I also stirred the bacon and green onions into the soup instead of as a topper for a superior flavor!
Loved, loved, loved this recipe. I also did what many others suggested and used 1 ½ C. Of chicken broth and 1 ½ C. Milk. Also, added some onion powder and garlic powder and a little bit more cheese than recipe called for. Will be a regular in my household.
very easy to make but no one in my family liked it. could probably doctor it up to make it better.
This recipe is good, but not great. Easy to make, but rather bland by itself. Tweaking it could help a great deal: garlic or onion (or a dash of either powder), substituting chicken broth for some portion of the milk. Maybe adding some carrot or celery. Will make again, but definitely will be playing around with it to add some more flavor. Should be a nice, satisfying comfort food when it's got a bit more oomph.
