I use a fork to drizzle the white chocolate. I also add dye of red/green. These are always a hit and ppl want the recipe. I have made these for years & I have never had a problem. My kids enjoy helping to shape the dough in candy canes. The Cookies do break easily. Happy Baking :0)

These cookies were such a pain to make!!! I followed all the instructions exactly and still did not have the right batter consistency. These cookies were impossible to get rolled into candy canes. The batter was too sticky and it stuck to my hands. We even put the batter in the fridge for a while, but this only helped for a few minutes. I would never make this recipe again! Our Christmas spirit was squashed for a while after trying this recipe!

I was disappointed with these cookies. I made them for a party last night and was embarrassed to bring them. While they were very cute, they were rather tasteless. The dough was good and they were very easy to make. The end product was just not all that fantastic. If I made them again I would change things up a lot.

Not very good! There wasn't any flavor to them, and for my taste they were dry. I wouldn't make these again at all!! I had to throw the whole batch away because no one would eat them!

It is a great cookie to make with the kids and was a huge success during the holidays for gift baskets.

The cookies were good, but didn't have as much flavor as I hoped. Don't let the comments and reviews scare you, these were very easy to roll out into the rope shape immediately after I mixed them contrary to many of the comments I read here. Since it was after Christmas I took 2 candy cane shapes and joined them into a heart and frosted them with a pink frosting flavored with marashino cherry juice. I made part of them and refrigerated the dough till the next day, so my 1 1/2 year old grandson and 2 1/2 year old granddaugher could help me make them. We had to let them sit out for a while to soften slightly, but they had no problem rolling them out too.

The only problem I had with this recipe was not knowing how big to make the balls to make a 3" rope. I ended up making a long rope and cutting it in 3" increments. I also made some of the cookies without peppermint (for those who don't like it) and those were gobbled up as well. You could add extracts to the white chocolate for any tastes and/or occasions and top with nuts or dried fruit. People will think you spent all day making them!

The recipe calls for vanilla and I substituted 1/2 tsp of that for peppermint extract to add more of a peppermint flavor than just the candy cane sprinkles on top. I would suggest substituting 1-1/2 tsp of peppermint if not all of it to give it more flavor, it was quite bland. The cookies did stay soft and had a nice texture to them. I would make it again, only using more peppermint next time.

Although the dough is brown to look like chocolate there is hardly any chocolate flavor. The cookies eaten plain are kind of tasteless. The white chocolate doesn't add any flavor either relying solely on the peppermint. Perhaps the powdered cocoa would work better.
