I am in the middle of making this recipe now. I followed the directions, and as other users have written, it is too sticky to work with. I noticed on the video that it looks like she is only using 1 stick of butter, but the recipe calls for 1 1/2. Could this be the problem?

Horrible! The dough was way too soft to do anything with and by the time you got the dough into a candy cane shape, it broke getting to the baking sheet. I bake tons of christmas cookies every year, and will not be making this one again.

These are a little bland. Next time I may add some more spices to help flavor. Make small candy canes to keep them from breaking after baking. My boys loved helping me make and bake them. That is what its all about family time.

These cookies are always so popular, with just the right amount of rich sweetness. Yes, they don't look EXACTLY like the picture, but the taste definitely does make up for it. These may have to become a tradition.

Not only was it easy to make, the taste is really good. I am not particularly artistic, so I didn't think I did a very artful looking candy cane, but the taste compensated. I am surprised by the negative scores on taste. I took them to work for a potluck and the people who tasted them agreed. They are not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Watching the video, made me decide to try the recipe. (Thanks, Michelle.) I am making them again for the Christmas day celebration at my daughter and son-in-law's house next week as well as the annual cookie exchange next December.

My daughters and I bake together every year to make cookie and candy trays for friends and neighbors. We really like the flavor of this cookie, but found that making the candy cane shape did not work for us. It took a long time to shape each one, but they puff up so much when baking that sometimes the shape became distorted and then the cookie would break at the curve. This year's plan is to just make them into logs and bake them.

Im dont bake very much, but found this recipe very easy to make. The forming of the candy canes was alittle time consuming but the taste was a soft mild chocolate. My daughter and I loved them! The cookies were soft, so if you enjoy crispy this recipe isn't for you.

These cookies look good but the taste is awful and it takes a lot of time to shape and decorate them!

I followed the recipe to a T and it was awful! They turned out ok as far as looks goes but the taste was awful!!! I was so embarrsed and disapointed because I worked soo hard on them. I will never make these again!
