Chocolate, Cranberry & Oat Bars

Chewy and sweet with tart cranberries, rich chocolate chunks and crunchy pecans...these bars can make it that much easier to stick to your smart eating plan.

What You Need

cup dried cranberries

1/4

cup orange juice

1-1/2

cups flour

1-1/2

cups quick-cooking oats

tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder

1/4

tsp. salt

3/4

cup margarine, softened

1-1/2

cups packed brown sugar

eggs

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, coarsely chopped

cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

MICROWAVE cranberries and orange juice in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 30 sec. Mix next 4 ingredients; set aside. Beat margarine and sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each until well blended. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in cranberry mixture, chocolate and nuts.

SPREAD onto bottom of 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 25 to 30 min. or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

test kitchen needs to update the instructions, cooking time is way off. Could there be something missing with the ingred.?

Great flavor, but poor baking directions. My first batch went 5 minutes longer than recommended and still was too soft in the center once cooled. The second batch went a good 10 minutes longer and were done, but still a little soft in the middle compared to the delicious outside crispy edges. I will make this recipe again, but will make cookies instead of bars.
