Easy Shepherd's Pie

What You Need

lb. ground beef

cups hot mashed potatoes

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed

cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided

cloves garlic, minced

cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn and green beans), thawed

cup beef gravy

Make It

HEAT oven to 375ºF.

step 1

BROWN meat in large skillet; drain.

step 2

MIX potatoes, cream cheese, 1/2 cup Cheddar and garlic until blended.

step 3

COMBINE meat, vegetables and gravy; spoon into 9-inch square baking dish.

step 4

COVER with potato mixture and remaining Cheddar. Bake 20 min. or until heated through.

Barbecue Shepherd's Pie

Prepare as directed, omitting the garlic and substituting 3/4 cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce mixed with 1/2 tsp. onion powder for the gravy.

Note

If using instant mashed potatoes, omit the milk when preparing the potatoes.

This was super easy, but tasted like I had worked really hard on preparing. My family liked it much better than the recipe I normally make. I did add 1/2 cup of ranch dressing to the potatoes with the cream cheese. So good!!!!

I cut this recipe in half since I only cook for myself, I just used a smaller dish, about 6-inches square. I made it healthier by using low fat cheeses, and I used Ground Boca Crumbles in place of the ground beef. It was very good, and I had leftovers to take in my lunch for work the next two days.

Extremely easy to make, I used instant mashed potatoes and 8 oz cream cheese instead of 4 oz. My family loved this recipe. Great for a cold winter's night.

Surprisingly delicious! I am not a big fan of shepherd's pie but I was looking to make a good confort food meal on a cold wintery day. This Shepherd's Pie recipe was the best I have ever had (according to myself, my husband and my 2 toddlers who ate it all gone!) I was scheptical and cautious but I was blown away by how good it was! This one is going straight into my recipe box of favorites! PS: I don't think it said in the recipe directions, but broiling for the last 2 minutes of bake time will give it a great look and an extra little crunch to the cheese on top!

Easy to make, easy to make lighter, quick weeknight dinner! All of this and tasty to boot! My husband loved it and he normally doesn't like veggies! I used fat-free gravy in addition to the other suggestions for making lighter.

Shepherd's Pie is the ultimate comfort food! This recipe is very easy and quick to make, especially if you use prepared mashed potatoes. Instant potatoes would work great too because the cream cheese and cheddar would hide the "instant" flavor. My family loved it - we'll definitely be having it again!
