There's "easy as pie," and then there's "easy as this potato-topped shepherd's pie." It can be on the table, piping hot and delicious, in just 40 minutes.

So delicious and easy. I made the recipe last night. My husband does not like much salt and pepper so he ate his serving without salt and pepper. I added a little salt and pepper to mine for taste and we both loved this recipe. Yummy!
We made this last night, was good, be sure to spice the meat when cooking otherwise it is very bland. I'd also add more gravy to this than what is called for and we doubled the potato's and cooked it in a 13x9 dish. Next time I'm going to double the whole recipe so we have more leftovers it was that good we all wanted it again for lunches.
Not a favorite. Kids didn't like everything together. Tasted fine...looks not so yummy.
This was SO yummy and easy to make!!! I added more cream cheese to the mashed potatoes (a whole package instead of half) and added marinated beef tips that I needed to cook that night. My entire family LOVED it!!! I'll be making this a lot this winter!!! I usually have everything needed to make it on hand anyway!!! What could be easier? :)
Layer (meat, veggies, mash) rather than mix and add masa flour to solidify each layer so so end product can be sliced. All the flavor is in the meat layer: Do taco or chili with beans and onions, or strogonof, or Philly cheese steak. Cream your veggie layer with only those you like so it becomes a soft bread. This recipe presents no better opportunity to show off how you like your mashed potatoes. I like to float well-cooked parcels in a garlic mash. Toss in a pea for a contest.
With the hambuger, mix in a packet of onion soup mix, and I used the Idahoan Instant Potatoes. (4 cups boiling water, 1/2 stick of margerine, 3/4 cup of milk and 4 Cups potato flakes) and used sharp cheddar cheese. But then I grew up knowing this as Layered casserole...
When browning the beef, if you add half a bottle of dark ale, it really perks up the flavor. I also use canned or leftover vegetables when I make mine.
This is a keeper! Instead of gravy, I used what I had in the fridge (worstershire and pasta sauce). To shorten prep time, I used Bob Evans prepared mashed potatoes. Smells as good as it tastes!
This recipe is very easy to make and everyone loved the combination of the meat, potatoes, and vegetables in one dish. This is a family favorite!
