Easy Shepherd's Pie

What You Need

lb. ground beef

cups hot mashed potatoes

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed

cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided

cloves garlic, minced

cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn and green beans), thawed

cup beef gravy

Make It

HEAT oven to 375ºF.

step 1

BROWN meat in large skillet; drain.

step 2

MIX potatoes, cream cheese, 1/2 cup Cheddar and garlic until blended.

step 3

COMBINE meat, vegetables and gravy; spoon into 9-inch square baking dish.

step 4

COVER with potato mixture and remaining cheddar. Bake 20 min. or until heated through.

If using instant mashed potatoes, omit the milk when preparing the potatoes.

This was just OK. The family thought it was fine, and it was quick & easy to make, but it taste somewhat bland. I made the recipe using the BBQ sauce variation instead of gravy and I did add crushed red pepper while I was cooking the beef.

MY MOM USED TO MAKE THIS. THE LAYERING IS DIFFERENT IT SHOULD BE GROUND BEEF, VEGGIES, CHEESE, THEN POTATOES. THE KEY TO THIS RECIPE IS FLAVORING EACH LAYER.

I prepared it with a bag of Broccoli-Carrots-Cauliflower and my family loved this dinner. Even my picky Preschoolers ate it. Definitely something I'm going to make again.

Good, but the meat should be seasoned. Next time I will use some garlic salt and red chili peppers.

I love this recipe. I made it for the first time 2 months ago and have had it multiple times since. I use canned veggies because I have never been a fan of frozen ones. All ages love this recipe and it will be a permanent staple in my house from now on.
