Double-Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake recipe

Dip a fresh strawberry in chocolate—twice. That's how deeply chocolatey we've made this strawberry shortcake.

What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

cup cold milk

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Tbsp. strawberry jam

cups sliced fresh strawberries, divided

tsp. powdered sugar

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round pans. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.

BEAT pudding mix and milk in large bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Gently stir in COOL WHIP.

PLACE 1 cake layer on plate; spread with jam. Top with layers of half each of the pudding mixture and strawberries; cover with remaining cake layer. Top with remaining pudding mixture. Refrigerate 1 hour. Top with remaining strawberries and sprinkle with sugar just before serving.

Prepare using 1 pkg. (1.4 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding, fat-free milk and COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

Substitute

Prepare using 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding.

It was very easy to make and was absolutely Delicious. Had it after Easter Dinner and everyone loved it.

Very delicious combo of chocolate and strawberry. I think the next time I make it I'll leave out the fresh strawberries from between the layers. If you have leftovers, the top layer will start to slide off the fruit.

I actually made this for someone and asked THEM to rate it ! They said the only reason they gave it a 4 was because there's nothing that's perfect - LOL ! I didn't try it, but I AM going to make it again and it was a SPECTACULAR sight to see ! I felt so elegant looking at the end result ! LOL !

I made this for Mother's Day and it was big hit! Chocolate and fresh strawberry make a wonderful combination. I suggest having extra strawberries to spoon over each slice, and also, if you're like me and don't like cake mix, make your own cake from scratch. I used a Wellesley Fudge cake recipe and it was great!

My Family really enjoyed this cake over the hoildays. Very moist and really easy to assemble. Not to mention the presentation was amazing.
