Double-Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake recipe

What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

cup cold milk

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Tbsp. strawberry jam

cups sliced fresh strawberries, divided

tsp. powdered sugar

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round pans. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.

BEAT pudding mix and milk in large bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Gently stir in COOL WHIP.

PLACE 1 cake layer on plate; spread with jam. Top with layers of half each of the pudding mixture and strawberries; cover with remaining cake layer. Top with remaining pudding mixture. Refrigerate 1 hour. Top with remaining strawberries and sprinkle with sugar just before serving.

Prepare using 1 pkg. (1.4 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding, fat-free milk and COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

Prepare using 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding.

I made this cake for a birthday party. It was very good,and got lots of compliments. The great thing about this cake is that it is very easy, and you can prepare it with many variations by changing the cake flavor, jam, fruit and filling to suit you or your guests favorites.

Made this for my son's 3rd birthday party. Only complaint was that I should have made two, instead of one, because everybody wanted seconds. Will definitely make again!!

This cake looks very presentable! I split the layers so I had a total of 4 cake layers.

This cake was really good. Moist and not overly chocolatey. I followed the recipe as instructed, but I waited until the last hour before serving to cut and arrange the strawberries between the layers and on top. As I cut the strawberries, I put them on paper towel to absorb additional moisture and in doing so, I think that made the cake more stable. I'd make this again. I got a lot of compliments.

This cake was delish! I made it for my Sister-In-Law's wedding shower and it was a huge hit! It looked pretty and tasted fantastic!
