Double-Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake recipe

What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

cup cold milk

1-1/2

cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Tbsp. strawberry jam

cups sliced fresh strawberries, divided

tsp. powdered sugar

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round pans. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.

BEAT pudding mix and milk in large bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Gently stir in COOL WHIP.

PLACE 1 cake layer on plate; spread with jam. Top with layers of half each of the pudding mixture and strawberries; cover with remaining cake layer. Top with remaining pudding mixture. Refrigerate 1 hour. Top with remaining strawberries and sprinkle with sugar just before serving.

Prepare using 1 pkg. (1.4 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding, fat-free milk and COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

Substitute

Prepare using 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding.

I made this cake for our Easter get together. It was a hit. I really enjoyed making it. I started with baking the layers and slicing the strawberries the night before, so that I could easily whip it together on Easter day and give it plenty of time to refrigerate before eating. Thanks for the recipe.

This was really yummy! The only problem was the filling in the middle was too slippery and the top layer slid off easily. Still tasted great though! I substituted unsweetened applesauce for the oil in the cake mix (1:1 ratio), used a reduced-sugar cake mix, and fat-free whipped topping.

My first rating didn't go through - so I'll try again. Hubby loved this dessert - he even took pictures(very surprising). He is a chocoholic and loved the cake & said he got his fill of chocolate, but since the cake was light and airy, it didn't weigh him down. Hubby rarely gives 2 thumbs up... this was really good. AND IT LOOKS SO FANCY!!! SO EASY TO DO. CHILLING IS EVERYTHING!!! Before, During & After!

This recipe was so easy to make but looked so fancy! Everyone loved it and couldn't help but have seconds. The only problem we had was that it softened quickly so after you cut a piece, put it back in the refrigerator.

This dessert is SO EASY TO PREPARE. It not only tastes DELICIOUS, but sure is GREAT TO LOOK AT!!!!! I had only the choice of a Devil's Food Chocolate cake mix--NO MATTER IT TURNED OUT JUST FANTASTIC! Great for any occasion, any time of year-CHOCOLATE LOVERS--THIS IS HEAVEN!! Thanks so much Kraft Foods for the magazine and the ability to have a receipe box online for all these great food items!!!!!! I probably have more receipes stored than I can ever make, but my GOAL is to get to as MANY as possibe!!
