It's probably difficult to mess this up! I added a cup of diced onion to the hamburger, and a heaping tablespoon of the prepared diced garlic to the sauce. I used Newman's vodka sauce because that's what I had, and used medium shells in place of penne. Topped it with plenty of cheese. Both husband and kid loved it!

Good and easy pasta dish. I adapted the recipe some. I used a 13.25 oz. box of whole grain penne rigate. Used 2 1/2 cups of water, 1 can 14.5 oz petite diced tomatoes, also added fresh spinach. I used spices: pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Mrs Dash Italian medley, and dry basil. Very good.

We've made this recipe at least 1/2 dozen times and my family loves it. It's one of the few dishes that commands seconds with my group of picky eaters. I love the fact that there are few ingredients, and it can be on the table in 30 mins. Add a salad as a veggie offering.
